SCA 2024: A ROUND UP

With the heats over and a better understand the Barista Championship under our belt I think it’s fair we talk about the competition one last time.
First of all it was such a privilege to compete against so many talented baristas this year.

This year was an introduction to the competition after a few years away and with a lot of rule changes to go back into the competition world of speciality coffee was really thrilling! Thank you to all the judges, sponsors and the SCA for their hard work and dedication to a brilliant event.

Care was the concept for this year and as such we prepared with that in mind. It’s at the heart of what we do and being able to bring that to the national stage was such a joy and couldn’t be happier with how it was received.

A huge thank you to @hundredhousecoffee, @vinhalcafes, @mawleymilk and @couchstirchleyb30 for all of their support in getting me ready for this competition with fantastic produce, expertise and flexibility. Each team of each of these companies made it possible for me to present whilst believing fully in the conviction of what we created collectively. Couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you to the team @passingfancies.bar for being able to use their space. As a small company closing our shop wasn’t an option and you’ve allowed us to stay open whilst preparing. Matt, Eve, and the rest of team; thank you so much to you all.

I was lucky enough to have a few supporters turn up on the day too! @leo_kattou, @_newe and @axeldelrod the fact you watched for the audience gave me added confidence to do my absolute best.
Finally, and most importantly, thank you to the always brilliant and ever patient @farahchaudry for being my rock through this entire process. From meal preps to many late night chats to covering the shop so that i had time to prepare, none of this would have happened without my partner in crime. Nothing short of phenomenal wonderful and overwhelmingly supportive.

We achieved what we set out to achieve this year and scored well. Great feedback but that’s it for now. Next year we go further. Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Stay hydrated.
